The Tiger Women's Golf Team won the 2nd consecutive 3C2A NorCal Championship on Monday at Madera Golf & Country Club. The team remains undefeated all season and has qualified for the 3C2A State Championship which will be held on Nov. 16th & 17th at the Alisal River Course in Solvang, CA.
The Tigers got off to a commanding 10 stroke lead after day one and never looked back. Jacie Johnson led the Tigers on day 1 with a score of 77 with Tessa Hernandez right behind her with a 78. The team scored a 320 after day one.
With virtually perfect conditions on Monday, every team member either equaled or bettered their score and shot a formidable team score of 307. Tessa Hernandez shot a 1-under par 72 and ended up placing 3rd overall as an individual. Jacie Johnson equaled her score of 77 and for their efforts, both golfers qualified for the All NorCal Region Team Honors.
With the help of Sareh Randolph's steady play and improvements by Marissa Martin, Kaitlin Paredes, and Kailey Cuevas the team came in victorious with a score of 627, beating 2nd place Modesto JC by 17 strokes; and 3rd place Napa Valley College by 70 strokes, Sierra College who place 4th also qualified as a team for the 3C2A state championship.
Faith Hamstreet from Taft College was the individual champion with a 145 and will qualify as an individual at the state championship as well.
Overall this has been a stellar season for the Tigers and one for the record books. We have ONE MORE TO GO!!
