The Reedley College women's golf team remained undefeated in 2019 with a 94-stroke victory over Taft College on Sept. 17 at the Sunnyside Golf and Country Club in Fresno.
The final score was 330-424. Monica Yu led the Tigers with 42-36-77. Serena DiMauro was right behind with 43-39-82. Mia Chao was next with a 43-41-84. Alyssa Bendure and Serena Garcia both shot 87 while Kayla Hernandez shot a non-scoring 118.
Taft was led by Alyssa Irey with a 45-43-88 but had no one else shoot better than 100.
"We won by 94 shots!" reported head coach Scott Stark. "The greens were dead and burnt. They put a chemical on the greens that killed them. Not good! The girls still played solid golf despite the adverse conditions."
Reedley returns to action on Sunday in Morro Bay at the North/South Invitational Tournament. Tee off is scheduled for 8:30 am.

The Tigers played Big 8 Conference Tournament #3 of the season at Sunnyside Country Club, a tough course with a good deal of hazards and very small greens on the beautiful layout. The weather was sunny, with very little wind and temperatures in the mid-'90s. The Tigers took advantage of their local course knowledge and played a solid round of golf as a team. Leading the way for the Tigers with a very good effort was Monica Yu, who posted a Medalist score of +5 over par round of 77. Serena DiMauro carded a solid round of 82, including shooting a 39 (+3) on the back nine. Mya Chao shot a very gutty round of 84. Alyssa Bendure and Serena Garcia both tied with rounds of 87, not bad for the Tigers' 4th counting score at Sunnyside Country Club. The 330 team score was 94 shots ahead of Taft College and extended their lead in the team standings race after three conference tournaments to 8 points over Sierra College for the Big 8 Conference-leading Tigers. The Tigers have an overall record of 4-0 on the season. Next up on the schedule for the Tigers will be the 36-hole North-South Invitational tournament held at Morro Bay Golf Course on Sunday and Monday, hosted by Santa Barbara City College. Tee times are scheduled for 8:00 am on Sunday morning.
