On a pleasantly warm, and absolutely perfect day in Woodland, with temperatures in the mid-'70s and a little wind in the afternoon, the Reedley College Tigers played terrific team golf, and were named NORTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONAL CHAMPIONS!!! This is Back to Back years that the Tigers have won the Regional Championships for the Men's Golf program, and 4 in the last 5 seasons!! In a format that matches the best teams from Northern California, Reedley came out in the morning round and played very efficiently, shooting a round of 376, the best team score of the AM round. Leading the way for the Tigers was the trio of Morgan Cooper, Beau Willett, and Xavier Coreno, who all posted +2 over par rounds of 74. Tommy O'Rourke shot a good round of 76. Bailey Flickinger capped the morning round scoring by posting a 78. The 376 score placed the Tigers in 1st place, 3 shots ahead of San Jose City College. The Tigers felt they did not play as well as they were capable, and knew that a strong afternoon round would enable them to make a serious run for the Northern California Regional Championship! After a comfortable lunch break, the Tigers were back on the course, this time starting their round on the front nine. Round #2 leader for the Tigers was Tommy O'Rourke, who posted a very solid round of Even par 72. Tommy's round was the best round in the afternoon. No other player broke 74 in the PM round. Xavier Coreno shot a fine round of 2 over par 74. Beau Willett added a 75 for the Tigers in Round #2. Bailey Flickinger fired a 79, and Dylan Otto added an 81 to complete the scoring on the day for Reedley. The 381 total was the best score of the afternoon and made the Tigers 2 round team score for the day a 757. The Tigers finished 13 shots ahead of 2nd place San Jose City, 26 shots ahead of 3rd place Folsom Lake College, and 39 shots clear of 4thplace Fresno City College, the other colleges to qualify for the State Championships next Monday. Also of note, Sophomore Xavier Coreno (74-74 = 148) and Freshmen Tommy O'Rourke (76-72 = 146) were named the Co-Individual Medalists, and Beau Willett (74-75 = 149) was also an All-Northern California selection as well as a result of their efforts on this NorCal Monday.
