Reedley College Athletics Begins The 2019-20 School Year

Reedley College will compete in four sports to begin the 2019-2020 school year. The Tiger Football, Volleyball, Women's Golf, and Women's Soccer teams will all officially begin their seasons this month.

The Tiger Volleyball team looks to the future as new head coach, Mariah Roby takes over. Long-time Tiger coach, Shannon Jefferies retired following the 2018 season. Roby is a 2010 graduate of Reedley before transferring to Arkansas Pine Bluff. Roby also assisted Jefferies in 2013 through 2016. When asked about the 2019 season Roby said, "I am excited to make an impact, Reedley College has always had a special place in my heart and I am honored to lead this program." Volleyball begins play August 21st with a scrimmage in Solano. The first home match will be September 18th as the Tigers start conference play against the Columbia College Claim Jumpers

Reedley Women's Golf heads into the season as the defending conference champions. Reedley finished the 2018 season with a 23-1 CVC record. This year they will move to the Big 8 to play as they exit the CVC. After finishing fifth in the state last year the Tigers will hope to make it to Morro Bay again. Reedley has played in the NorCal tournament four out of the last five years and has won the CVC conference title three out of the last four years. TIger Golf will tee off the season on August 27th in Modesto.

Reedley Women's Soccer enters the third season in program history. Last season saw the Tigers earn their first win in program history. They ended the season on a streak defeating West Hills and COS as the season ended. The Tigers will return a core group of sophomores along with a new class of recruits. 2019 starts with a scrimmage at home. They will host their first official home game on September 3rd as they host Cabrillo. Conference play begins October 15th at Taft.

Tiger Football finished 10-1 in 2018. Their only loss was a 42-41 bowl game against DeAnza. 15 Tiger football players transferred on to four-year schools after also succeeding in the classroom. The 2019 Tigers will defend the Golden Coast League title.  Coach Marty will have a squad featuring a large number of returning sophomores and some exciting recruits from the Central Valley and nationwide. Reedley Football will have a scrimmage at home on the Reedley College Campus on August 28th. The first official game is at home. It is a rematch against DeAnza college on September 7th.
